Soffit & Fascia
Installation & Repair
Protect your roof's structure, improve attic ventilation, and never paint your trim again. We replace damaged soffit & fascia with vinyl vented soffit and custom-bent aluminum.
The Critical "Finishing Touch"
More Than Just Curb Appeal
Soffit (the underside of your roof overhang) and Fascia (the board behind your gutter) are often overlooked until they rot. In New Jersey, they are the first line of defense against squirrels, raccoons, and water damage.
At GLF Siding, we treat soffit and fascia as a structural protection system. Rather than just covering up rot, we stabilize, or if necessary replace, the wood underneath and install a system designed to maximize airflow and prevent pests from entering your attic.
Our Installation Process
- Rafter Inspection: We check rafter tails and sub-fascia for rot or insect damage before covering anything.
- Ventilation Assessment: Ensuring insulation isn't blocking airflow (installing baffles if needed) to prevent ice dams.
- Custom Bending: We bend heavy-gauge aluminum coil on-site to wrap your fascia, making it maintenance-free.
- Secure Soffit Mounting: Installation of F-channel and J-channel supports to ensure soffit panels won't blow out in high winds.
- Pest Proofing: Tight seals at corners and returns to keep birds and rodents out of your attic.
Materials We Use
We typically install "hidden vent" or fully vented vinyl soffit panels. These maximize intake airflow into your attic, which is crucial for keeping your roof cool in summer and dry in winter.
For fascia capping, we use high-grade aluminum that is durable and long-lasting. It provides a clean, low-maintenance finish that won’t peel, crack, or rot.
System Components
Vented Vinyl Soffit
Perforated panels that allow fresh air to enter your attic. This "intake" air pushes hot air out the ridge vent, extending your roof's lifespan.
Aluminum Fascia Capping
We wrap your wooden fascia boards in custom-bent aluminum. It protects the wood from water and eliminates the need for painting forever.
Decorative Molding
For historical homes, we can bend aluminum to match existing crown molding or cornice details, preserving the classic look without the maintenance.
Why Soffit & Fascia Maintenance Matters
In Northern New Jersey, neglected eaves are the leading cause of three major home issues.
Ice Dams & Icicles
Massive icicles hanging from your gutters are not a pleasant sight, they are actually a sign of failure. If your soffits are painted shut or blocked by insulation, cold air cannot enter the attic. This causes the roof to heat up, melt snow, and refreeze at the gutters. Properly vented soffits are the cure for ice dams.
Pest Infiltration
Squirrels, raccoons, and birds love rotting fascia boards. Soft, water-damaged wood is easy to chew through. Once inside the soffit, they have direct access to your attic. By wrapping the fascia in durable aluminum, you create an inaccessible barrier against wildlife.
Rotting Rafter Tails
The "fascia" is attached directly to the ends of your roof trusses (rafter tails). If the fascia board rots and isn't fixed, the rot eventually travels into the structural rafters of your home. Capping the fascia prevents water from ever touching the wood, stopping structural damage before it starts.
Why choose us?
Soffit and fascia work requires precision. Badly installed soffit can blow away in a nor'easter, and poorly bent fascia looks wavy and cheap. Since 1989, GLF Siding has been bending custom aluminum trim for homes in Sussex and Morris County.
We ensure the lines are straight, the corners are tight, and the ventilation works exactly as it should.
